Reduce -- Reuse -- Recycle Use things you purchase. If you no longer need something, give it to someone who can use it. When all usable life is gone, and it can't be repaired, recycle it. PBCOB recycles paper and aluminum cans. Additionally, most cities provide curbside recycling. For the list of what can be recycled, links are provided to each cities web site. Most cities have programs to recycle large appliances and electronic items. If anything you are going to discard has any usable life left, give it to a charity thrift store. Then someone else can use it. Instead of throwing organic material into the trash, consider composting and make your own organic fertilizer. Did you know that Phoenix residents generate enough trash to fill the Diamondbacks ball park to the top seven times a year? This is more than 100 million tons of trash. |
There are thousands of things that can be done to care for God's creation. Here are a few. |
Replace light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs that are 60-80% more efficient than conventional light bulbs and last up to 10 times longer. If every home in the US replaces one light bulb with fluorescent it would prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars. |

Energy Star appliances save up to 50% over the non-energy star devices. Many electronic devices use up to 40% of their energy when truned off. Whenever you shop for something that uses energy, compare the energy consumption. Unplug electronic devices and chargers when not in use. |

Keeping your car in good shape can save gas and pollution. Check tire inflation monthly. Keep your car tuned up. And limit driving. If shopping for a different car, consider fuel efenciency as a primary consideration. |

Water is essential for all living organisms -- especially fish. Please conserve it. Fix leaky faucets. Don't let the water run while brushing your teeth or shaving. Change to low water consumption shower heads and toilets. |

![]() Gasoline lawn equipment pollutes more than a car. Use a push mower, broom, and rake to get the health benefits of a workout while saving the environment. Leaf blowers are especially bad because they put particulates into the air, contributing to unhealthy air that we all breathe. |
