Crawdad Camp

Crawdad Camp 2009 July 20 - 25
East Clear Creek, Coconino National Forest, Arizona

East Clear Creek is located in the cool mountains of central Arizona. The campsite will be in the canyon close to the stream. We will hike along the stream to remove crayfish each day.

This is a beautiful area in a deep canyon with beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, the stream is crawling with crayfish.

If you are interested in participating, and/or have questions, follow the Contact link and send a message.   OR download the registration form.  Registration is limited to 24 people.

Crawdad Camps are designed to put faith into action. Campers live in tents and eat in an open-air kitchen. We practice "leave no trace" to have minimum impact on the natural environment. This is a multi-generational camp and campers from 2 (with parents) to 90 years old have participated

Typical days begin with devotions and breakfast. As campers finish breakfast, they pack a lunch and prepare for the day's work.   Everyone helps out with camp chores. There will be free time for group play, swimming and wading.

Crayfish are caught with dipnets or traps, The traps are left overnight and are emptied in the morning. Data is recorded for all crayfish caught.  You can eat all the crayfish you want.
Lunch is at some natural picnic ground near the stream. Several days we will be joined by biologists from a variety of state and federal agencies. They will share their knowledge of the plants, birds and/or fish,
Each day includes time for Bible study, singing, prayer, and learning how to care for creation.
